By using Overt you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app. The app is provided by Cassidy Rowan, an individual developer, contact address: 212 S Division St, Ann Arbor, MI 48104, United States.

1. What Overt is

Overt searches publicly available web pages and writes an answer based on what it found, listing the sources it used. It is a research aid. It is not a source of truth, a legal opinion, a medical opinion or a financial recommendation.

Answers can be wrong. The app reads what the web says, and the web contains mistakes, opinions and outdated pages. For anything that matters, open the listed sources and judge for yourself. You are responsible for what you do with what you read.

2. Free use and subscription

• The first three searches are free and require no account.
• After that, continued use requires an auto-renewing subscription.
• The price, the period and the currency are shown on the purchase screen inside the app before you confirm. They come from the App Store, in your local currency.
• Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation.
• The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Cancel any time in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions on your iPhone. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the period you already paid for runs to its end.
• We have no way to charge you outside the App Store, and no way to cancel on your behalf.

Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us, under the App Store terms. If you believe you were charged in error, write to us and we will help you put the request together — but the decision is Apple’s.

3. Daily limits

A subscription is not a licence to use the service without limit. Each day a subscription includes a capped number of searches and reports. The caps are set so that ordinary use never reaches them; they exist to stop automated abuse and to keep the service affordable for everyone. The current caps are shown on the purchase screen and in the app, and we will not lower them without telling you inside the app.

4. People search: what you may not do

Where the app offers a people search mode, you agree to the following, and these are conditions of use, not suggestions.

• You will not use Overt to decide about employment, housing, credit, insurance, education or eligibility for any benefit. Overt is not a consumer reporting agency, its reports are not consumer reports, and it is not designed or permitted for these purposes under the U.S. Fair Credit Reporting Act or comparable laws elsewhere.
• You will not use it to stalk, harass, threaten, impersonate or intimidate anyone.
• You will not use it where local law requires the consent of the person being searched and you do not have it.
• You are responsible for having a lawful reason to look someone up.

We may suspend access to accounts used in these ways.

5. Fair use of the service

• Do not attempt to bypass limits, reverse engineer the app, or access the API by any means other than the app itself.
• Do not resell access or republish generated reports as your own product.
• Do not submit content that is unlawful.

6. Content and sources

The pages Overt links to belong to the sites that publish them, and their own terms apply. Text generated by Overt is provided for your own use. We make no claim of ownership over the underlying facts.

7. Availability

We try to keep the service running, but we do not promise that it will always be available or that a search will always succeed. Search providers and language models fail sometimes; when that happens, the app says so and a failed search does not count against your daily limit.

8. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the app is provided as it is, and we are not liable for decisions you make based on its output, for the content of pages it links to, or for indirect losses. Nothing here limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law where you live.

9. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; the date at the top will change, and significant changes will be shown inside the app. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States.
